Complete Domestic Pet Boarding
Kennels and runs vary in size and style to accommodate the needs of the individual dog. Some like big open air spaces where they can watch the activities going on around them. Other dogs like more quiet, enclosed, small and secure places. Whatever your dog prefers, we have the accommodations to meet their needs. |

Our spacious indoor/outdoor runs have heated floors with raised nylon decks and blankets to insure constant comfort. We also play soothing music 24 hours a day for your pet’s enjoyment. Our runs open up to 3 huge fenced exercise fields where dogs can run and play with human and/or canine companions 4 times a day.
Our interior runs all have privacy walls and vary in size to accommodate toy to giant breeds with 8’X12’ runs available for families to bunk together. Our kennel allows outside views to our resident peacocks, guinea hens, and other fowl that provide natural flea and tick control.
Feeding occurs in the morning and evening unless otherwise specified, using our high quality foods or a specific diet provided by the pet owner. Medications and special treatments are administered as prescribed. |
24 Hour Supervision
The owners reside on the kennel property. This combined with the extensive kennel hours (8am-6pm every day of the year) provide for a constant supervision. There are always human beings on premises. |
Veterinary Technician on Staff 24 Hours A Day
SafeHaven keeps a veterinary technician on staff to spot any injuries or health problems that need to be addressed. The technician can provide minor care or a referral to a veterinarian if necessary. Karin Hall, one of the owners, has been a veterinary technician for 34 years. We have a closely located veterinary clinic who responds on short notice to calls at the kennel, and we will also have, in 2007, a new resident veterinarian to replace Dr. Cangelosi who has moved away. |

Doggy Daycare
Does your dog spend all day home alone? Does he or she have “accidents” or chew and destroy household items out of boredom or frustration?
Our doggy daycare program may be the answer. Daycare will also teach your dog some basic obedience and house training through both example and interaction with other dogs and people. You can drop your pet off on the way to work and retrieve him on the way home. If needed, a “doggy school bus” is available at additional cost within a 20 mile radius to the kennel. Pricing is determined based on mileage.
Daycare costs $8 per 10 hour day from 8am-6pm and $10 for 12 hours from 7am-7pm. Meals are included. Dogs must be current on rabies, distemper, and kennel cough. |
Limited Livestock Boarding
We provide limited livestock boarding at our facility or will travel to your location to care for your livestock at home. |
In-Home Cattery
The cattery is located in the residence so that personalized attention can be given to them at all times. All cats have their own special place with access to a public play area, where they can play with other cats, or they have their own private play time. The cattery is a warm, comfortable room furnished with cat toys, cat towers, scratching posts, cat walks, a radio, a fish tank, and plenty of windows for your cat’s entertainment. |
 |
In-Home Exotic Pet Boarding
We provide boarding for any exotic pet whether reptile, bird, or mammal. All exotic pets stay in our residence for the personalized attention that feels more like home. |
 |
Large, Secure Exercise Fields
The exercise fields are connected directly to the outdoor runs enabling the dogs direct access for playtimes. They are grass surfaced and surrounded by 6 foot tall chain link fence for security. The fields border the livestock pasture so that the dogs might meet a variety of horses, goats, or even a pot bellied pig up close safely through the chain link fence. |

4 Interactive Playtimes Daily
Interactive playtimes take place in our exercise paddocks a minimum of 2 times in the morning and 2 times in the afternoon. Our staff spends time playing with your pet every day they are boarded as standard fare. Whether your dog likes to fetch, play tug-of-war, or just get his belly scratched, their playtimes will be customized for them. Supervised playtimes with other dogs are promoted for loads of fun and lots of exercise. |
 |
Wooded Nature Walks
A member of our staff will take your dog for a long nature walk around the man-made trails on our 6 acres of wooded property. Your pet will be kept on a slip lead the entire time. The nature walk lasts anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on the stamina of your dog. Nature walk are available every day, allowing for weather. |
|
Supervised Inground Pool Playtimes
Our supervised swim time is one of our health therapies and is a big hit during the summer. Each session lasts between 30-60 minutes depending on the energy level of the dog. Pets are under constant lifeguard supervision. They may swim with a buddy, after the staff determines they are compatible and that both will benefit. No more than two dogs are allowed in the pool at a time. Your dog may also swim alone with a member of our staff if he prefers. A wide variety of pet-safe pool toys are available for their swimming pleasure. |
|
Jacuzzi Baths
A warm Jacuzzi bath is another of our health therapies and is available for any pet that would benefit mentally or physically. Older dogs enjoy the warm, swirling water as a good way to ease arthritis stricken joints. Dogs are under constant supervision and enjoy the Jacuzzi individually. Other health therapies such as massage and range-of-motion exercise are also available. |
Full Service Grooming At SafeHaven or At Home
Two certified groomers with over 50 years of combined experience are on staff and able to provide any grooming services for your pet either aesthetic or health related. Grooming can take place either during a kennel stay, or by appointment here or at your home. Many early signs of health issues are also detected during a professional grooming as well. These are usually referred to your vet for further diagnosis and treatment or can be addressed by one of ours here at the kennel. |

Home Care Services
This service is provided for any species at sites within a thirty-mile radius of SafeHaven. We ensure that your pet is lovingly cared for in the same manner in which we look after our on-site boarders, this includes feeding, exercising and monitoring the home environment.
Local Pet Transport
We will pick up your pet for transport to the kennel or home again. We can also provide transport from your home to the veterinarian, airport, or a destination of your choice.
Long Distance Travel Arrangements
We can provide complete travel arrangements for your pet statewide, nationally, or internationally as your needs require. This can include all veterinary preparation, travel containers, and layover arrangements when kenneling is required.
Socialization Training At the Kennel
Socialization is a natural result of a stay at SafeHaven, however our staff can focus on special needs and issues your pet may have in regards to potential animal friends.
Basic Obedience and Behavioral Training
Our trainer, Gloria Glaser, is an accomplished trainer with over 30 years of experience in obedience and behavioral training. She can work with your dog here at the kennel during a boarding stay, in a class here or elsewhere, or in the comfort and privacy of your own home. Issues such as aggression, timidity or fear, house breaking, destructiveness, and self-abuse are but a few of the problems that Gloria can help you and your pet solve. Let her help you communicate with your “best friend” for a long and happy relationship.
Low Cost Health and Vaccination Clinics
SafeHaven has sponsored low-cost vaccination and health clinics for 4 years. However our previous veterinarian, Dr. Amy Cangelosi, has moved back to her home state of Louisiana. We wish her well but she will be greatly missed. Dr. Laurie Stein, a new veterinarian relocating to this area has taken up Dr. Amy’s mantel so to speak and is holding clinics monthly here at the kennel until she is permanently situated in the area. The clinics are currently limited to vaccinations, health checkups, tests for parasites and disease, and cat neuters. Plans are for much more in the Spring of 2007, when she moves here permanently. |
